Hazzard, Brazzell, Vinatieri Named MSFL Week 4 Players of the Week
The Midwest Sprint Football League (MSFL) has announced its Players of the Week for Week 4, with standout performances on both sides of the ball and special teams. Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College’s Derron Hazzard, Bellarmine University’s Gavin Brazzell, and Calumet College of St. Joseph’s Jeau Vinatieri each earned league honors following pivotal contributions in their teams’ victories.
Offensive Player of the Week – Derron Hazzard, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods (Jr., RB)
Hazzard delivered the decisive moment in the Pomeroys’ 27-20 Homecoming win over Midway (Ky.), breaking free for a 58-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter to complete a dramatic comeback. He finished with 13 carries for 112 yards (8.6 yards per carry) and one touchdown, leading all rushers in the game. Hazzard also contributed on special teams, punting twice for 70 yards (35.0 avg.), showcasing his versatility.
Defensive Player of the Week – Gavin Brazzell, Bellarmine (Sr., DB)
Brazzell anchored the Knights’ defense in a 9-7 road win at Quincy, recording eight total tackles (three solo, five assisted) and an interception. His biggest play came in the closing moments, when he forced a game-sealing fumble to preserve the victory. The senior defensive back’s leadership and clutch performance helped Bellarmine secure its first conference win of the season.
Special Teams Player of the Week – Jeau Vinatieri, Calumet (IN) (So., K)
Vinatieri was perfect on extra points and reliable in field goal opportunities during Calumet’s matchup, scoring a total of 10 points. The sophomore from Las Vegas went 2-for-3 on field goals, including a long of 39 yards, and a perfect 4-for-4 on extra-point attempts. His steady performance gave the Crimson Wave a critical edge in the kicking game.
