MSFL Week 1 Players Of The Week Announced
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Midwest Sprint Football League (MSFL) has announced its Week 1 Players of the Week following the 2025 season-opening weekend. Jeremiah Tosky (Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College) earned Offensive Player of the Week, Byran Simmons (Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College) was selected as Defensive Player of the Week, and Jeau Vinatieri (Calumet College of St. Joseph) was named Special Teams Player of the Week.
Offensive Player of the Week: Jeremiah Tosky, SMWC
Quarterback Jeremiah Tosky put together a record-setting performance in his season debut for the Pomeroys. He completed 31-of-42 passes (73.8%) for 412 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 9.8 yards per attempt with a long completion of 56 yards. Tosky posted a 182.9 passer efficiency rating and added a rushing touchdown, finishing the day responsible for five total scores. His accuracy and explosive plays powered SMWC’s offense and set the tone for the season.
Defensive Player of the Week: Byran Simmons, SMWC
Freshman linebacker Byran Simmons delivered a game-changing defensive performance in his collegiate debut. Simmons recorded 14 total tackles (14 solo), three pass breakups, and a 95-yard interception return for a touchdown late in the fourth quarter to secure the victory for the Pomeroys. He also contributed on special teams with a 19-yard kickoff return, showcasing his versatility and ability to impact the game in multiple phases. His all-around effort earned him the MSFL’s first Defensive Player of the Week honor of 2025.
Special Teams Player of the Week: Jeau Vinatieri, Calumet (IN)
Vinatieri delivered a historic moment for Calumet by drilling a 48-yard field goal, the longest in MSFL history. He finished a perfect 2-for-2 on field goals, accounting for all six of the Crimson Wave’s points in the contest. His poise and precision gave Calumet a reliable scoring option and a new program highlight, solidifying him as the Week 1 Special Teams Player of the Week.
