MSFL Names Players Of The Week For Week 7

The Midwest Sprint Football League Has Selected Its Players Of The Week for Week 7 of the 2024 season. Each week, the league will select an Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Player of the Week.

 

The Week 7 Award Winners Are:

OFFENSIVE:

Jeremiah Tosky, SMWC (El Paso, TX / Andress High School)

Completed 12-of-17 passes for 292 yards and three touchdowns in the win over Calumet College of St. Joseph for the 2024 Midwest Sprint Football League Regular Season Championship ... Had three long touchdown passes on the day including a 54-yarder to Corbyn Cleveland with 12 minutes remaining in a one possession game on third down with stretched the advantage out to two points. Found Marques Reese for a pair of touchdowns as well in scoring 36 points against the Crimson Wave which was allowing only 7 points per game.

 

DEFENSIVE:

Gavin Lay, Midway (Bellevue, Ky. / Bellevue High School)

Was all over the field, recording two sacks and four tackles for loss, accounting for 28 negative yards. Also had a strip sack and keyed a defense that had a program-record seven sacks as Midway clinched its first ever trip to the MSFL playoffs.

 

SPECIAL TEAMS:

Owen Huff, SMWC (Greencastle, Ind. / Greencastle HS)

Picked up a forced fumble on the opening kickoff the win over Calumet College of St. Joseph and scooped the ball before returning it 28 yards for a touchdown as the Pomeroys were up a touchdown just 10 seconds into the game en route to victory and the MSFL Regular Season Championship.

 

A LOOK AHEAD: 

We are down to just four teams remaining in the MSFL Playoffs as we head to Semifinal Saturday on November 2. No. 1 Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College will host No. 4 Midway (Ky.) in the first semifinal contest at 2 pm (ET) at Jay Barrett Field in West Terre Haute, Ind. The second semifinal sees No. 2 Calumet College of St. Joseph hosting No. 3 Bellarmine in a rematch of one of the closest contests during the regular season. Kickoff is set for 5 pm (CT) in Whiting, Ind.
