Conference and Regular Season Championship teams take final MSFL Player of the Week honors to close out the inaugural season.

The inaugural MSFL season comes to a close and the final MSFL Player of the Week recipients belong to the championship teams. St. Mary-of-the-Woods walked away winning the inaugural MSFL Championship game, defeating Calumet College, the Regular Season Champions. Calumet's Busse and St. Mary-of-the-Woods' Perea and Varns are the final 2022 MSFL Player of the Week recipients for their Championship game performance.

 

Defensive Player of the Week

Trevor Busse,, Calumet College

LB/FB/OL, Fr., Knox, IN

  • Led the Wave's defense with 20 tackles, 6 solo and 14 assisted, in the Wave's 23-7 loss to SMWC in the MSFL Championship game.

  • Had 3 tackles for a loss of 5-yards totals

  • Also had 1 sack when the Pomeroys were at 4th down

 

Offensive Player of the Week

Patrick Perea, St.Mary-of-the-Woods

RB, Fr., Amarilo, TX

  • Perea rushed 116 yards in 37 carries in St.Mary-of-the-Woods' 23-7 win over Calumet.

  • Had 1 reception for a total of 29 yards

  • Averaged 3.1 rushing yards with a 15 yard long run

 

Special Teams Player of the Week

Drake Varns, St.Mary-of-the-Woods

K, Jr., Louisburg, KS

  • Varns was 3/4 in Field Goals (longest 33-yards) in the Pomeroys 23-7 victory over Calumet, including a field goal in the final minutes of 2nd Quarter to put SMWC on the board and give them a lead at halftime. 

  • Also 2/2 in Extra Points kicks, scoring 11 of SMWC's 23 points

  • Kicked off 4 times for a total of 180 yards and punted twice for 54 yards

Week 4: Isaac Hegwood, Calumet College (Defensive), Chris Reckel, Fontbonne University (Offensive), Cordell Walker, Quincy University (Special Teams)
