Calumet and Quincy claim Player of the Week honors after the final regular season games

The inaugural MSFL regular season is complete and two of the three winning teams receive Player of the Week honors. Calumet's Hegwood makes a second appearance as the Defensive Player of the Week and Quincy's Klusmeyer and Beroiza make their first appearance as Players of the Week this season.

 

Defensive Player of the Week

Isaac Hegwood, Calumet College

LB/WR/RB, Fr., Portage, IN

  • Led the Wave's defense in their 31-28 win over Bellarmine with 10 tackles, 4 solo and 6 assisted 

  • Returned a Bellarmine Fumble for the Wave's final touchdown of the game

  • Also had 1.5 tackles for a loss of yards and 1 breakup. 

 

Offensive Player of the Week

Taylor Klusmeyer, Quincy University

QB, Sr., Mendon, Illinois

  • Completed 18 passes for a total of 189 Passing yards including, 3 touchdowns in Quincy's 40-3 defeat over Midway

  • Also had 15 carries for a total of 75 Rushing yards, scoring 2 touchdowns

  • Accounted for all 5 of QU's touchdowns in the 40-3 win over Midway

 

Special Teams Player of the Week

Ethan Beroiza, Quincy University

K, Fr., Quincy, IL

  • Was 2/2 in Field Goals, both at 30 yards, and 4/5 with PAT kicks to score 10 of the Hawks points in the 40-3 win over Midway

  • Kicked 3 punts for a total of 67 yards, averaging 22.3 with the  longest punt  of 29-yards

  • Also had 7 kickoffs totaling 335 yards with a 47.86 avg

Week 2: Hunter Cardwell, St. Mary-of-the-Woods (Defensive), Brenden Reid, Bellarmine (Offensive), Corbin Barnett, Bellarmine (Special Teams)

Week 3: Brenden Reid, Bellarmine (Defensive), Brennon Landry, St. Mary-of-the-Woods College (Offensive), Jared Saez, Calumet (Special Teams)

Week 4: Isaac Hegwood, Calumet College (Defensive), Chris Reckel, Fontbonne University (Offensive), Cordell Walker, Quincy University (Special Teams)

Week 5: Ray Lingard, Quincy University (Defensive), Brenden Reid, Bellarmine University (Offensive), Jared Saez, Calumet College (Special Teams)
